Dressed for Disaster

army.jpg Everyone loves a man in uniform, right? Well, there are exceptions to every rule.

I flew through the El Paso airport this weekend which, being near an army base, was flooded with soldiers in fatigues. Now, common knowledge would say this should be a turn on, but instead of imagining any of these toned, buzz cut young men barking orders and dropping to give me twenty of something else… I was overcome by a feeling of sadness.

I absolutely admire their bravery and respect their commitment to protecting our country, but my gut instinct jumps towards sympathy to any woman involved (or man attached to a kick ass service woman). These guys risk their lives and maintain great physical shape, but control over their lives ultimately lies in someone else’s hands.

A uniform can be helpful at cutting down on the guesswork at figuring out the ideals that make up someone’s personality- police officers are generally authoritative, fire fighters may be protective, but would you add a little extra strut to your stride in front of a Taco Bell employee? Probably not.

What kind of uniform makes your heart race?
