There are some songs that are perfect to blare during the pre-date ritual of getting ready, songs that kick your ass into a higher gear at the gym, and songs to cry your eyes out to through a break-up. Then there are the chocolate-covered oyster, dropped in a champagne glass, scented with pheromones songs that make you blush even in headphones. These are a few of my musical aphrodisiacs- guilty pleasures, oddballs and all:
“Amazing”- Aerosmith (Two words- motorcycle scene…)
“Ayo Technology”- 50 Cent & Justin Timberlake
“Breathe On Me”- Britney Spears
“Crash Into Me”- Dave Matthews Band
“Down With the Sickness”- Disturbed
“Freaks of the Industry”- Digital Underground
“Giving Him Something He Can Feel”- En Vogue
“I’m in Chains”- Tina Arena
“I Wanna Be Your Man”- Zapp & Roger
“Let’s Get It On”- Marvin Gaye (A classic.)
“Nasty, Naughty Boy”- Christina Aguilera
“Open Your Eyes”- Snow Patrol
“Put Your Hands On Me”- Joss Stone (reminds me of that classic line in Titanic- “Put your hands on me, Jack”)
“Satisfied”- Prince (pretty much anything by Prince, but this is a little lesser known…)
“Sweet Dreams”- Eurythmics
“Take A Bow”- Muse
“The Secret Garden”- Quincy Jones, Al B Sure, et al.
“These Arms of Mine”- Otis Redding (Bonus points if you know what movie inspired this one!)
“Uninvited”- Alanis Morisette
“Untitled (How Does It Feel)”- D’Angelo (Even without the video…although it certainly doesn’t hurt!)
“Waitress”- Tori Amos
“Waterfall”- Griffin House
“Wicked Game”- Giant Drag (An amazing cover of the original)
“You Can Leave Your Hat On”- Joe Cocker
Sometimes it’s about the words, sometimes it’s just the beat, sometimes it’s a memory, and sometimes I can’t even explain why. What would you put on your mix-tape?

Not sure what would make it to my cd.
I have the unfortunate syndrome of not being able to remember lyrics, so I can’t sing along if I tried.
I guess:
1. Annie Lennox ‘Why’
2. Amie Mann ‘Wise Up’ and ‘Save Me’
3. Beta Band ‘Dry the Rain’
4. Anything else by the Beta Band, I love them
5. Magnetic Fields ‘Let’s pretend we’re bunny rabbits’
6. Anything by Magnetic Fields, their songs sounds so alike anyway
7. A peppy Madonna song. I like her happy older stuff
8. Nine Inch Nails ‘Piggy’ (yes, I’m eclectic)
9. Morphine ‘I’m Free Now’
10. Anything by Lali Puna. I love them
That’s all for now.
Writing this list makes me long to hear this stuff. Thanks for the post!

This list just reminded me how much i used to love Tina Arena, and now I was to listen to her cds that are somewhere in my house, under my bed?? I’d like to add some Wilson Phillips and Dolly Parton, they both happen to be guilty pleasures. Vountry music in general is something I try to not admit enjoying.

hee hee, I’m usually so nervous that I have to listen to Norah Jones or The Wailin’ Jennys to calm me down!

Oh man! I recorded a tape of my best friend and I singing to Wilson Phillips and mailed it to their fan club as a kid! That’s about as far from sexy as I can imagine (but you’re right, a great guilty pleasure!)
