“Oh my god, that’s like a bad Cameron Diaz movie,” exclaimed the woman walking past me on a cell phone.

I’m going to have to assume that this woman was referring to recently hitting the jackpot in Vegas and being forced to live with the imbecile who she married while intoxicated. Because other than that (and maybe The Mask) Cameron Diaz pretty much rocks.

But here’s the problem-

Cameron Diaz is great at playing stupid, goofy funny. This works brilliantly when paired with someone can play dry, intelligent funny.

In The Sweetest Thing, she had smart ass Christina Applegate.

In Charlie’s Angels she had bad ass Lucy Liu.

In Something About Mary she had self-deprecating Ben Stiller.

But if you take away the intelligence you’re just left with slips, falls and fart jokes. Forgive me if I don’t see Ashton Kutcher upping the intellectual ante of this duo.

I’m all for the immature elements that make for good comedy but I tend to lean more towards South Park and The Daily Show as opposed to Jackass and America’s Funniest Shots in the Nuts*.

I can safely say that I’ll be okay with not knowing What Happens in Vegas. 

*Bonus Points to anyone who can identify what movie this reference is from!
